I know this must be a difficult holiday for Congressman Virgil Goode and his family. Having to share these festive days with people who don't look anything like him, or practice the same faith as him. Nonetheless, I would like to not only extend sincere holiday cheer to his family, but also invite him to join me and the others into this wonderful thing we call, reality.
Now, my issue isn't with Rep. Goode's bigoted and disgusting remarks towards Minnesota Rep-elect, Keith Ellison, the first Muslim ever elected to Congress. I can't waste valuable space and time on a man who is completely withdrawn from reality. I'm done with those people. If Rep. Goode wants to make a fool out of himself in front of the country by spewing bigoted remarks about a gentleman he doesn't even know, then God bless Rep. Goode. Although, someone should remind him that the country has gotten tired of the Right-Wing act of smearing their opponents. Just ask Rush Limbaugh. His hateful remarks directed to Michael J. Fox didn't help the G.O.P.'s cause in the November elections.
Virgil Goode is just another racist hick from the South who probably sneaked into Congress by feeding his district a good old fashion diet of hatred towards minorities, homosexuals, women, and the "liberal media".
But what really puzzles me is the continued silence from the G.O.P.
No one, not even the President has spoke out against Rep. Goode's remarks.
Now it shouldn't surprise me that the Republican party has stood silent.
Remember when Ann Coulter claimed that the 9/11 widows enjoyed their husbands' deaths?
The G.O.P. not only stood silent, but embraced Coulter with open arms. For
that moment, Ann Coulter became the spokesperson for the Republican party and its slogan: "You're either with us or against us."
Or...
How about Rush Limbaugh and his claims that Michael J. Fox was exaggerating his illness to pocket votes?
The Republican party, again, stood silent.
And now the trifecta. Rep. Virgil Goode's hateful and despicable remarks towards Rep-elect, Keith Ellison.
Anyone from the Republican party standing up to denounce Goode's remarks?
Nope.
Again silence from the party that eats and shits patriotism.
The Republican party is without question the political party for the weak, stupid, rich, and racist.
Doesn't anyone in that party care about their image?
The country on November 7th said no to Right-Wing extremism and instead of making an effort to fix their image, the Republican party is still being run by Right-Wing extremists who have this fantasy about muslims coming into our country and destroying it.
I don't recognize my own country. I still love it, but because of folks like Virgil Goode, it's been reduced to a big pile of crap.
We've lived in fear from things that shouldn't be.
And now, Rep. Goode wants to continue that path of fear-mongering.
Didn't he get the message on November 7th?
The nation is starting to wake up from their zombie state and turning down the G.O.P. main point of fear-mongering.
Just ask the folks in Ellison's district in Minnesota.
If they listened to Virgil Goode, Glenn Beck, and Dennis Prager, Keith Ellsion wouldn't have been elected to the house.
And that's what drives the Right-Wing fanatics crazy.
Their tactics aren't working as well as it should.
The country is at least making an effort to steer away from the radical right agenda. They've gotten a glimpse of how a country led by individuals who listen to Sean Hannity all day is run.
It's not pretty. Just ask New Orleans residents who waited for days in their own shit and piss for help during the Hurricane Katrina crisis.
Keith Ellsion has shown great class and character throughout this whole inquistion that the Right-Wing has put him through.
I can't say the same thing about the Republican party and their latest spokesperson, Virgil Goode.
They lack both class and character.
Let's hope Santa Claus will find it in his heart to give some much needed class and character to the Republican party this Christmas.
