Markos starts with a front page post calling calling for restraint in the demands for impeachment. Then we get multiple callout posts deriding Markos' call for restraint, including Jerome a Paris' that made the rec list and others like northwoods1's that garnered numerous comments.
More below the fold.
Please. Really. Stop the insanity. The calls for immediate impeachment and the calls for no impeachment are both totally off the mark. The simple fact is that the Senate will not proffer the votes for conviction at this point in time.
Kos made a good point when he said,
Congress will pursue its oversight duties. Waxman and Slaughter and Conyers and the rest of those guys aren't about to take the next two years off. People will be held accountable.
Let impeachment be an organic outgrowth of actual oversight--not the result of our current perception of malfeasance. If the investigations warrant it, we impeach. However, if we impeach now and fail to convict, we'll never be able to impeach the George W. Bush again and we've likely forever doomed the impeachment process to the appearance of mere partisanship and not the reality of good governance.
This diary is brief and likely more commensurate of a comment than a diary. Let me know and I'll delete.
Nevertheless, patience Grasshoppers. The time is not right.
