According to the snickering, brain-dead duo I just saw on John Gibson's "Big Story," which includes Gibson himself, the Worst President Ever is also the Worst Ex-President Ever.
"Jimmy Carter." WTF?
Yep, they invoked their trusty "Some say" motif to say that Carter is possibly the worst President ever, due to -- and I am not making this up -- his failings in the Middle East. (Gee, I kinda thought that Israel-Egypt Peace Thingie worked out pretty good!)
Now, because of the controversy over his latest book, "some say" he may become the Worst Former President Ever. (If we define Some = "People who work for Roger Ailes," I guess that's a true statement.)
They gleefully showed the C-SPAN clip in which President Carter was accused of being an anti-Semite, chuckling as they showed footage of his former colleagues who have distanced themselves from his current work.
I haven't read his new book and cannot comment on its quality. But he's far from the Worst of anything, and in some ways he remains the Best. During his term we experienced some tough times -- high inflation, gas lines, the Iranian Revolution's aftermath -- and perhaps he wasn't the right guy for those times. But he was honest, devoted, intelligent, hard working, dignified. And as an ex-President he has shown himself to be, well, all the same stuff. A classy guy.
Is it any surprise that Faux is working overtime to change the subject. Anything, ANYTHING but Preznit Bush and Iraq.
UPDATE: Well, folks, Fox News may actually be wrong about this one. According to the dKos community, the Worst President Ever is (lessee... gotta make sure to count every vote...) George W. Bush. In a Diebold-proof landslide.
