Yesterday my favorite co-worker came into the receiving area and asked a girl a question. "Can you tell me what color blood is after it circulated the body and returns to the heart?"
First, I want to clarify things. I don't work for a place that is known for hiring intellectual geniuses. My co-workers are great people, don't get me wrong, butthe main qualification for the job is literacy. Needless to say, being a college graduate and having to work in such an environment can be troubling at times. I like to blame the economy for my meaningless employment.
My favorite co-worker is a Republican former farmer who believes we found WMD in Iraq and Saddam Hussein planned 9/11. There is no reasoning with this man. He's a great guy, but comically wrong about everything.
"Blue," another co-worker said as she examined her wrists.
"That's right. Blood is blue."
I, of course, am known for being the myth buster at my job. I chime in, "Blood is not blue in the body."
In other past arguments with the Blue Blood man, I have provided documentation to prove that WMD were not found and Saddam was not the ringleader of al-Qaeda. My co-worker watches Fox News everyday and said that he can find documentation to support his claims. My documentation came from the Deulfer Report and the 9/11 Commission. He has yet to show anything.
So after telling him that blood was not blue, I sat down to prove it to him with some medical documentation. He left the room, but I was able to convince my other co-worker that blood was not blue.
"But he said it was!"
I slyly said, "He also thinks we found WMD in Iraq and Saddam Hussein was responsible for 9/11."
"He does!"
