Hey all, this is my first post although I read the site quite often. Everything I see in the current political climate looks good for the Democrats picking up seats in 06 (and possibly the majority in the Senate). Approval polls, Iraq, Katrina, huntergate (lol), scandals, etc etc.
The momentum is on our side and it seems hard to stop it, although the elections are still pretty far away. Things will be close no matter what but the Dems have a bounce right now.
HOWEVER, I LOOKING INTO THE FUTURE I see the execution of Sadaam (which will happen one way or another) possibly giving the Republicans the bounce that they need (between 5 or 10% based on "patriotism") to keep control and yet again use the National Security mantra to hold off the Dems when it looked like they were back.
Please tell me why I am wrong. Either because:
1- the execution won't happen
2- it will be too early which will wipe out the bounce
3- it won't be enough b/c the Dems will effectively counter it
4- any other thoughts??
