I know this doesn't applies to most of us, but enough of us to be worth a diary. [Rant]
Most Republicans are not fascists or Nazis. Most Republicans do not want a theocratic state. Most Republicans are not eagerly awaiting the apocalypse. Most Republicans do not want to kill all gays. Most Republicans do not want to kill all Muslims or Arabs. Most Republicans are not thugs. Most Republicans are not racist (at least consciously.) Most Republicans do not want to imprison all liberals or try us for treason. Most Republicans do not want to repeal the 1st Amendment. Most Republicans do not approve of election fraud.
However, most Republicans do want to dismantle Social Security. Most Republicans do want to shift the tax burden to the poor. Most Republicans do want to illegalize abortion, restrict family planning, yet support the death penalty. Most Republicans do believe in borrow-and-spend economics. Most Republicans do believe in enabling corporate criminals. Most Republicans do want to discriminate against gays. Most Republicans do want to make it harder for the poor to get access to health care. Most Repbulians do support bringing religion into public schools. Most Republicans do want to limit stem cell reasearch. Most Republicans do support weakening our schools and making paying for college harder. Most Republicans do support policies that weaken our national security in countless ways. Most Republicans do oppose enivornmental protections.
We're lucky because we are right. There are so many objectively true things to say about Republicans that we have no reason to make up shit or use labels that don't apply. They're the ones who have to do that. It's unbecoming, and makes those in the middle think we are irrationally meanspirited or don't have any good points to make. Let's cut out the hyperbole (excluding those to whom the labels apply,) because if we argue on the merits alone, we win every time.
