Dear Sirs and Madames,
We will be avoiding any and all products from companies that are based in South Dakota. We are encouraging all of our familiy and friends do likewise. We are dissuading everyone with whom we have contact to avoid travelling to or through your state.
Our country acheived greatness because of our capacity to seek social solutions based on the pursuit of freedom and the respect for the innate value of each and every person. Your state's desire to deal with the prevalent difficulties of unwanted pregnancies is admirable and probably required for the future success of our republic. However, your state's choice to deal with the challenges by forcing your ideology onto the women of South Dakota withdraws your state's recognition of respect for the citizen. Your representatives have determined that the American course of respect for the citizen is not worthy of their consideration and they have discovered that the course of totalitarian edict that has yet to produce the first hint of success in this country, is the wise choice.
Your representatives are pandering for votes with the lives and miseries of the most vulnerable beings that they can find and use: unborn children. They claim to speak for those that can not speak for themselves. What they are saying as the self-appointed proxies for these babies is, "I need to get re-elected and I plan to continue living off of the state's payroll, so I am going to utilize the power of the divisiveness of religious ideologies because it should bring me more votes. The only cost is years down the road to the Americans that will have been born and grow up as unwanted and unloved; they will know misery and play hell with our delicate social fabric, but I will have been payed and should be enjoying my pension years in a condo next to a golf course far south of here."
If you want to solve a problem and reduce the number of babies lost to abortion, then have the guts to stand up and deal with the social dynamics that contribute most powerfully to unwanted pregnancies. By avoiding the ills and attempting to force women to conform to your edict of fixing one symptom, you are trying to force courage out of the picture. That cowardly strategy has never resulted in anything but more and worse problems because when we attempt to live in fear while pretending that we are courageous, calamity always follows.
Our family and friends feel strongly encouraged to recognize South Dakota's desire to remove itself from the pursuit of an American way of life in exchange for a totalitarian regime. We will make every effort to not buy products or services that will result in economic favor to your state. We regret your choice to reject the successful template of America's founders and subsequent leaders, but we respect your need to discover the ruin of despotic rule for yourselves. One of those consequences is alienation from those of us that continue to elect the American standard of respect for ourselves and fellow citizens as the course to a more perfect union.
God Bless,
The Anderson Family
