The GOP loves to run their campaigns on fear. Fear of God. Fear of Guns. Fear of Gays. More importantly, fear of democrats. That is the only way they can establish and maintain power. I don't see why Democrats can't take this campaign tool and run with their own version of it. Democrats should run their campaigns with fear as the premises.
Stay with me here.
What scares me is GOP-controlled government cow-towing to corporate and special interest. What scares me is the errosion of our civil liberties. What scares me is the blurring line between the seperation of church and state. I can keep going, but you get the point.
Why can't Democrats take my fears - which we all seem to share - and use them as an electable vehicle? We're all sitting around, ready to get behind a candidate - any candidiate - with the balls big enough to stand up against a Republican controlled government. Each election, each Bush-nomination, I feel like it's gonna be the one to wake up the Democrats, to wake up the sleeping public. But, no. It never happens.
I'm not going to go into what has been recently written by Peter Dau (The Triangle). I think we're all pretty aware of it now. But, I think if anything can cut through the Republican noise machine, it's Democrats telling us that the only thing to fear is the Republicans.
