Like many libs, I've been cursed with the ability to empathize with other perspectives. Conservatives, for example, are easy for me, since I have beloved members of my family who drink the kool-aid.
So it kills me to watch a national news broadcast with their perspective in mind. For example, tonight, the national, network news reported the following (top stories, in order):
1. Gee, them crazy ragheads are pissed about them cartoons. Them is burnin' embassies! They hate our freedoms!!!!
2. Golly! Iran is gonna build them nukular bombs no matter WHUT! We gots to nuke `em!!
3. Savages! Them muslims in Egypt are rioting "simply" because a ferry sunk! Savages! We just can't REASON with "these people."
I just don't know what to do. I watch this network news broadcast and cringe. It's fuel for the fire of my relatives who have never traveled beyond a tour bus.
I can just see them nodding their heads, pouring more concrete into their minds about the "evil" that wants to destroy them.
Does anyone have ANY hints or suggestions as to how to combat the relentless images we receive?
