Two perspectives on the NSA Wiretapping imbroglio. One is that the Bush Administration is operating an unprecedented and outrageous intrusion upon our privacy by tapping into calls made between Americans and folks in other countries who may be connected to terrorist organizations. The other is that the presence of the operation was so obvious that leaking of information on the program to the N Y Times is no big deal.
Which is it? Is the program an unexpected intrusion into our privacy in violation of law and the Constitution, or did we and every other sentient being already know, to the point of it being "old news", that such monitoring was occurring?
How can Senators, having been briefed, bristle with outrage now? More importantly, how can we accept their positions with other than contempt?
To accept both positions is to be disingenuous, and we are deceiving ourselves to the point of self mockery if we continue.
