Watching the coverage of Coretta Scott King's funeral. . .
Bill Clinton gets up with Hillary, and talks about being there (paraphrase) "with past presidents, current president, and I wanted to be up here with . . ." and then broke off, with Hillary smiling at him. In other words, "my future president."
I thought this was tasteless. It's one thing to speak out about issues Coretta Scott King was passionate about, and even draw parallels with modern events, such as President Carter and Maya Angelou did. But to push the buttons about a rumored presidential bid is in poor taste, I thought. I'm sure I'm in the minority here, and the response of the crowd certainly seemed positive, but I did not think it was cool.
Your thoughts? Am I overreacting? And how nice was it to watch Our Great White Father sit and squirm during Carter's time?
