When I launch Internet Explorer (very rare) it automatically opens to
netscape. I just haven't bothered to change it because I really only use Firefox. Plus, it's a good way to see what news is getting served to the masses. Today's Headline,
Dems Indicted; Clinton, Kerry Targeted
I was shocked. What was this all about? Since earlier this morning when I checked the news had the Dems committed a great crime? Had they been implicated with Abramoff? No! They had been "charged" by the head of the GOP, Ken Mehlman, with an inability to find an election-year slogan.
From the
CNN piece
The head of the Republican Party, launching a broad indictment of the Democratic Party six months before midterm elections, is expected to charge Friday that the opposition can't find an election-year slogan, let alone agree on a broad agenda.
Now I'd like to believe that most people will follow the article and realize it is much ado about nothing, but the majority of people simply read the headlines and think, "Those Democrats did something illegal again." Will we see a headline, "GOP Indicted; Bush, Rumsfeld Targeted" with an article about Dems complaining about Bush's staged Town Hall meetings? Will we see a "Delay Indicted" headline...oh, right.
I really don't know what to make of this-- a vast right-wing conspiracy, bad journalism, or me overreacting? Is this kind of thing a typical day at the office for Editors? What do you think?
