I wonder what would happen if all the elected Democrats, both in DC and elsewhere, decided to reframe the GOP. Imagine it...on every news program, radio show, paid advertisement, and newspaper interview, the Democrat would say in a strong yet matter-of-fact tone that Republicans don't know how to govern. Literally that, "Well, Tim, the real problem is that Republicans simply don't know how to govern."
By all means, they should give them credit where it is due. Republicans are quite good at constant campaigning. They have a lot of experience at successfully moving money from the working and middle classes to the corporate class. The GOP can be proud of it's accomplishments in deteriorating our social safety net, the quality of our environmental resources, and our civil liberties. And of course they've been very good at fabricating evidence to justify a bloody war, outing CIA covert agents, and taking lots of money from lobbyists. There are a lot of things that Republicans are good at.
But they can't govern. Simple, to the point, easy to understand. Repeated over and over and over. "Mr. Matthews, say what you want about them, Republicans just can't govern." "Sure, Wolf, the Republicans have lots of ideas, but they're all bad ideas. That's because they don't know how to govern."
Again, and again, and again. Everywhere.
