The liberals are seriously behind the GOP in coming up with grandstanding wedge issue propositions that put their political opponents on the defensive, so given the fact that the Democrats aren't really, like, running the government (to the ground, as it were), may I suggest a few propositions to be put on the next ballot:
Proposition "Money For our Troops":
For the next 10 years, 10% of your California state income tax will be assessed ON TOP of your original state income tax. This amount can ONLY be used to to pay off the expense incurred during the war on Iraq.
You can get out of paying this extra 10% if you check off the "did not support war" box. But you will be on public record as having checked that box
This would have about zero chance of passing in California, but it puts the NeoCons on the defensive: "Oh I get it, you support this war as long as you don't have to pay for it right?"
Other propsitions popped into my head:
Proposition "Honoring the Esteemed GOP Senator from Kansas"
An heretofore unnamed hill in Blythe, CA will hence forth be known as "Brownback Mountain" in honor of the esteemed Republican senator's works towards human rights.
Because... well it makes me laugh
And finally
Proposition "He Who Casts the First Stone"
Californians who oppose gay rights on the base of Biblical morality will be jailed if they committ adultery.
