So Russ Feingold popped the question the other day, and the Senate Democrats ran like hell. Well, OK, not every single one of them, just all but three. That's pretty sad.
What was Russ' question, you ask? Well, he just wanted a censure (not an impeachment, just a kind of political slap on the wrist) of this president for his domestic spying. After all, something like 70% of Dems and - according to an ARG poll conducted March 13-15, a plurality of Americans - support Feingold's resolution to censure Bush, and nearly half would support impeachment.
However, when approached by reporters from the Washington Post, among others, each and every Senator fled. That's right: ran away when asked if they would join the censure - went and hid from the reporters, like scared kids.
This is very sad behavior for the so-called leaders of our country.
Why all the running and hiding? Could it be that the reporter had scabies or something? No, he checked out pretty healthy; it is that the senators have been listening to Democratic leadership advisors and pundits who have no freaking idea what they are talking about, and have advised a course of action that has resulted in this juvenile behavior.
The same asshole advisors and politicians who helped the Democrats lose the elections in 2000, the 2004 elections and are about to help the Dems lose the 2006 elections.
I will repeat that, for those senators hard of hearing: you lost because you keep taking the advice of a bunch of losers and you're still listening to them.
The American people are fed up with this Administration's lying and spying, unilateral wars and general incompetence, and all Feingold has asked for is a simple censure, not an impeachment; that will come later. You commission polls, hell, everybody's commissioning polls, and they all say the same thing: this President's numbers are in the toilet, and you can call him on anything now, so do it.
How freaking plain do you need to hear it? If you don't pick up this ball NOW and run with it, the Republicans will have a field day; they will form a flying wedge and cream you all on election day.
Is that plain enough?
Keep this up and you are guaranteed to lose in November. Personally, and speaking as an independent, I couldn't give a rat's ass less if no Democrat ever holds office in this country again, but I'll be god dammed pissed off if those lying, thieving Republicans do.
And to spite your cowardly asses, I'll write in Jerry Brown. Again.
Losing advisors: The DLC, all conservative idiots, Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, Joe Lieberman, John Kerry, Henry Kissinger, former Clinton administration policy advisors like Michael McCurry, writers and intellectuals such as George Packer, Paul Berman, Michael Ignatieff, Thomas L. Friedman and Richard Cohen, New York Times Executive Editor Bill Keller, et alia. - All milksops.
