Remember that campaign to send roses to Sen. Barbara Boxer? She received a total of 4,506 roses from people all over the country, if not the world (I know I sent some!) courtesy of
Coast to Coast Florist.
I propose that we do the same for Sen. Russ Feingold, to thank him for standing up to this administration, for being the only one to vote against the original "PATRIOT Act", and to let him know that despite being abandoned by his own party, he IS doing our will through the Censure Resolution and we have his back.
If there is enough interest, I will contact Coast to Coast Florist myself and try to arrange a deal like the one for Boxer, 3 roses for $10 sent directly to Sen. Feingold's office. These can be ordered from their website easily, and you can write a personal note on your order.
This is a great idea because it's not just another phone call or letter -- roses, or really any kind of flowers, stand out like a beacon. Anyone who works in an office knows how people's eyes (and sometimes noses) gravitate toward flowers and everybody reads the card. You can't ignore 4500 roses inside a Senator's office! Maybe if it gets big national response, we can send even more.
Please crosspost this broadly wherever appropriate. Consider me the instigator, and I will happily arrange this with the florist. Just let me know what the response is outside of DKos and the Yahoo Group "Feingold08" where I'll also be posting this notice.
