First, I don't want to be slammed as a troll or as using RNC talking points, so I should say from the start that I don't necessarily believe any of this. I'm asking because I want to know the thoughts of some of the Democrats who live in that state and who are watching this race.
Some wingnut in Denver Post had an article recently about how people were stupid to write off Campbell's seat as a Dem win.
He said that in 2002 Democrats in CO were supposed to win big because of the Hispanic vote, but no such vote made any difference, and Republicans actually made gains in the House and took back the state senate (do Dems have any chance of taking it back this year, BTW?). He also said that Wayne Allard was favored to lose because he was dull, wasn't seen as representing the entire state, his opponent Strickland was flashier, and yet Allard still won. He then says that Colorado voters will support Shaffer because his positions on issues are concrete, whereas Salazar's are unknown (does he favor the Hate Amendment, for example, as Shaffer likely does), and he has to figure out whether to run with Kerry or in spite of Kerry. He even says that the only thing voters in Colorado really know Salazar for is that he wants to stop bullying in schools.
Is any of this true? Will it benefit the Republicans in this race?
