This is in response to
tlh lib's diary, Are you scared? I am. I see where he's coming from, but I have to completely disagree. I am not scared of incompetent and greedy people that can only acheive power through deceit and fear. These people are to be mocked not feared.
Follow me throught the looking glass for more.
They want you to be afraid. They want you to fear crazy Muslims with box cutters because they got lucky once. They want you to fear their administration too because it means you respect them. You know what?
I won't respect them, and I won't fear them.
These people aren't scary. They are ridiculous. Their policies and "ideas" are nothing but bad jokes. They are complete failures and couldn't come up with an exit strategy from a wet paper bag. They are sad and pathetic. They shouldn't be looked at with anything but scorn and ridicule. Every time they are mentioned it should be accompanied with nothing, but loathing or laughter.
This nation has been through much worse than the "leadership" of these clowns. Let's do a quick run through of more dire threats:
We twice fought the world's largest empire on American soil only to form the most liberal Democracy to date. We survived even as 11 states were in open rebellion only to rebuild as an true world industrial power with increased equality under the law. We made it through 2 World Wars and a Great Depression to become the most powerful nation in the world. We stood toe-to-toe with the Soviets in the face of mutually assured destruction. Our leaders have started ill conceived foreign wars before as well. Washington, Paine, Lincoln, Roosevelt, Truman and hundreds of other real American patriots would laugh at our fear of these assholes.
We can't be afraid. We must be confident that right does make might. We must build a populist groundswell and make sure our troops don't go into Iran. We must fight for Universal healthcare and an increased minimum wage. We should fight to make higher education available to all who are willing and able. We must fight for increased equality and opportunity for all. We the people, have more power than they will ever admit. They can only hold us down as long as we let them. Their power comes from us. Never forget that.
As FDR said in much scarier times than these:
We have nothing to fear, but fear itself.
