Bush Could Resign in 16 Days, US Newsmaker Says...
April 12 (Bumbleberg) -- President George Bush, who is defying his own sanctions against national security leaks, may resign in 16 days if he continues to stonewall requests by Sen. Arlen Specter and former ambassador to Iraq Joseph Wilson to make available transcripts relating to the Valerie Plame outing. If support for censure and impeachment were 2.5 times greater than they are now Bush and Cheney's resignation could be 16 days away, a US newsmaker said.
What is this? It's reporting!! Just take a look at Bloomberg's article from yesterday that went around the world to scare everyone into considering nuclear strike against Iran.

Iran Could Make Nuclear Bomb in 16 Days, U.S.'s Rademaker Says... (If They Installed 324 Times As Many Centrifuges As They Have Now)
April 12 (Bloomberg) -- Iran, which is defying United Nations Security Council demands that it cease its nuclear program, may be capable of making a nuclear bomb within 16 days if it goes ahead with plans to install thousands of centrifuges producing enriched uranium at its Natanz plant, a U.S. State Department official said.
``Natanz was constructed to house 50,000 centrifuges,'' Stephen Rademaker, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Nonproliferation, told reporters today in Moscow. ``Using those 50,000 centrifuges they could produce enough highly enriched uranium for a nuclear weapon in 16 days.''
In fact, Iran will move forward to ``industrial scale'' uranium enrichment involving 54,000 centrifuges at Natanz, the Associated Press quoted deputy nuclear chief Mohammad Saeedi as telling state-run television today.
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said yesterday the country had succeeded in enriching uranium on a small scale for the first time, using 164 centrifuges. That announcement defies demands by the UN Security Council that Iran shut down its nuclear program this month

Despite all the sloppy and inaccurate headlines about Iran "going nuclear," the fact is that all President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday was that it had enriched uranium to a measely 3.5 percent, using a bank of 180 centrifuges hooked up so that they "cascade."
The ability to slightly enrich uranium is not the same as the ability to build a bomb. For the latter, you need at least 80% enrichment, which in turn would require about 16,000 small centrifuges hooked up to cascade. Iran does not have 16,000 centrifuges. It seems to have 180. Iran is a good ten years away from having a bomb, and since its leaders, including Supreme Jurisprudent Ali Khamenei, say they do not want an atomic bomb because it is Islamically immoral, you have to wonder if they will ever have a bomb
Does Anyone Remember The Dodgy Dossier?
On that benchmark day for democracy and journalism, George Pascoe-Watson, The Sun's Deputy Political Editor, did his best Judith Miller:
"British servicemen and tourists in Cyprus can be annihilated by germ warfare missiles launched by Iraq, it was revealed yesterday."
"They could thud into the Mediterranean island within 45 MINUTES of tyrant Saddam Hussein ordering an attack."
"And they could spread death and destruction through warheads containing anthrax, mustard gas, sarin or risin."
"The terrifying prospect was raised in Downing Street's dossier on Saddam's arsenal, which also revealed he could be just 12 months away from having nuclear weapons."

45 Minutes to Doom..... September 2003
One of the most important things that emerged from The Butler Report, which has not yet been picked up properly, is the UK Attorney General's judgement that war would only be legal if the evidence of WMD were incontrovertible. Blair just had to sex up that dossier. (See Downing Street Minutes; July 23, 2002: "intelligence was being fixed to suit the policy" of aggressive war on Iraq.) He had to hang onto his insistence on the existence of WMD long after everyone else had given up on it. Butler also exposed the source of the fantastic lie about "45 minutes to doom." It was the CIA/M16 stooge, we have now put in charge of Iraq. There is a nice pay back for lies and deceit. Butler is clear that this false claim should not have been in the dossier

"Given all that is going on now and all that has taken place over the past several years, one must give serious pause to the question of whether or not this nation will be a safe place to live for very much longer. I'm usually one to beat the drum of fighting all their is to fight and that is still who I am. But I have to admit that I'm starting to understand the fears that many had which lead them to talking about or actually leaving this country for a safer place to them."
