Stop what you're doing.
Go here: http://blog.oneamericacommittee.com.
Behold, drop down to your knees, and worship what you see.
The best "campaign" website in America today.
While Markos was salivating over the super-annoying animated mini-Mark at the Forward Together website, John Edwards was eating Warner's, Hillary's, and everyone else's online lunch and making them pay for dinner, too.
The great lesson of DeanForAmerica.com wasn't
if you build it they will come. Instead the great lesson was that
if you give them the information and tools to build it they will come and bring their friends too.
In case you didn't realize it, the Edwards blog community is thriving. Much of this is because the One America folks have embraced the Net to a degree that hasn't been matched since the headiest days of DFA. For starters OAC blog users are the most empowered of any campaign blog community including the vaunted CCN. Users at the OAC blog have substantial influence in controlling front page content, they each have their own blogs, they can publish polls, they can publish personal photos in the OAC flickr photo pool, they can actual give their blog handles (usernames) some verve and style with avatars, and more.
Beyond the user empowerment, Edwards and the OAC themselves provide their own content in the form of actual, serious, and consistent podcasting and video-blogging. In fact, you'll notice that they've copied the format of the most famous video-blog in existence - Rocketboom - to launch their own One America News cast (although I admit it also reminds me of the fake news casts by Sister Soldja in old Public Enemy music videos).
Anyway, although it's not perfect - Edwards doesn't interact enough with users - it's better than anything else out there. And I'm a little baffled as to why Edwards/OAC isn't getting the credit it deserves.
