There is currently a recommended diary on the possibility of Al Gore being President.
Folks, it ain't going to happen.
Hey, I think it would be great, but let's get real. It's not going to happen.
To most non-blog readers, Al Gore is, as Cohen writes, boring. He is a liar. He is a man who needed to hire a woman to tell him how to be a man. He "invented the internet."
Most (I hope) of you know that all this is bullshit - stories made up by the same Washington Post that today discusses Gore's possible comeback. Made up by the venerable New York Times and it's "liberal" columnists. But that's the public perception of him, and as Somerby writes, as soon as Gore dips his toe in the 2008 waters, the (mainstream media) slime machine will be back.
Gore's approval numbers are worse than Bush's numbers.
So while he may (rightfully) look great to us, we should recognize that he comes with a lot of (undeserved) baggage, courtesy of the SCLM, specifically the WashPo and NYT.
