Francine Busby and Brian Bilbray are headed into a June run-off here in my district, California's 50th, to replace antique commode connoisseur and confessed felon Randyduke Cunningham for the remainder of his term (he'll be unable to serve while imprisoned). Bilbray also faces a likely primary challenge in June from more conservative businessman Eric Roach for the Republican nomination for a full term in November.
There's been a bit of a brouhaha over stupid National Republican Congressional Committee ads implying that Busby supports child pornography (still running!), and now Bilbray, a carpetbagging former congressman and immigration lobbyist who was tossed out in his own district further south of here in San Diego County six years ago, is running one of the most despicable ads I've ever seen, all over the local stations. Here's a script:
(continued below the fold)
IMAGES OF BULLDOZER, HUMAN WASTE IN OCEAN WATER
ANNOUNCER: As a mayor, he defied federal bureaucrats by jumping on a bulldozer to stop millions of gallons of raw Tijuana sewage from polluting our beaches.
VOICE OF HYPNOTIZED-SOUNDING WOMAN: Brian Bilbray!
IMAGES OF BILBRAY, BORDER PATROL VEHICLES
A: As a congressman, he added 1400 Border Patrol agents to beef up border security.
HYPNOTIZED-SOUNDING WOMAN: Brian Bilbray!
BILBRAY STARES ACROSS A BORDER BLAZING WITH DANGER
A: Today, he's leading the fight to stop amnesty for illegal immigrants.
BILBRAY TALKS TO SCREEN STANDING IN FRONT OF RUSTY GATES
BILBRAY: I'm Brian Bilbray and I approved this message. I'm running for Congress because San Diego and America cannot wait another day to secure our borders.
That's right, he visually equates "illegal immigrants" (hint one: people are not illegal) with human waste. The only thing seen crossing the border is sewage, and yet the ad is supposedly about immigration. Puke. Go home, Brian Bilbray. Somebody must want you somewhere, but it's not here in our district as our congressman.
