I so want to live in the West Wing world. And not just because the Democrat won the election.
I know that some of you live on the west coast or TiVO WW, so I've put the rest of this after the break... [SPOILER ALERT]
Santos looked up and down his candidates for Secretary of State, and actually offered the job to Vinick, his opponent in the election. His motives were simple: he wanted the best person for the job. It looks like Vinick will put aside the partisanship and take it.
This actually made me tear up. The idea of the President placing competence over party affiliation, and the even more fantastic notion of a Republican placing patriotism over party got me misty-eyed.
We've all been through this a thousand times, but it still hurts to think about how low we've sunk. TV politicians are supposed to be worse than real ones, more corrupt, more extreme. Who would've thought that moderates compromising for love of country would become the fantasy?
