Emery County, Utah elections clerk Bruce Funk was officially locked out of his office for refusing to use Diebold machines in the upcoming elections, as diaried on Daily Kos yesterday. (I can't find the link.) But the story continues to grow, and the latest headline is:
A county clerk's claim that new voting machines are broken may put Utah at the center of a national debate on electronic voting.

Brad Friedman, sitting in today for Peter Collins, will be interviewing Bruce Funk on the air today. You can listen to the stream -- 3:00-6:00 p.m. PDT -- today to hear all the gory details Funk's fight with the Emery County commissioners and of Diebold's duplicity. Chicanery might be an more appropriate description.

Brad Friedman may be familiar to some of you as the guy who broadcast live from Camp Casey outside Bush's "ranch" last summer when Cindy Sheehan confronted Bush with her famous question: "What noble cause?" He is an exceptional interviewer and asks in-depth, follow-up questions most interviewers avoid. Since Brad's blog has zeroed in on and highlighted all manner of e-voting problems from the very beginning (collaborating closely with Rep. John Conyers), the interview today should prove to be factual and exciting, to say the least.
If you are not familiar with Brad, his blog, his radio show, or just want more information on the perils of electronic voting and all its hazards for our form of government, do go to the BradBlog. It is absolutely one of the best for breaking e-voting news from around the country.
