One possible repsonse to the Homan Email diaried by Mini Mum would be to request a criminal investigation of Chris Homan and the individuals who received his email and disrupted the Lampson press conference. If the email is authentic, and the diary accruate, their conduct would appear to be plainly within the following criminal statute:
Texas Penal Code, Section § 42.05. DISRUPTING MEETING OR PROCESSION.
(a) A person commits an offense if, with intent to prevent or disrupt a lawful meeting, procession, or gathering, he obstructs or interferes with the meeting, procession, or gathering by physical action or verbal utterance.
(b) An offense under this section is a Class B misdemeanor.
Again, the Homan email, as quoted in Mini Mum's diary:
"We would meet tomorrow morning at 9:45 am on the first floor of the parking garage attached to the Marriott. Please get folks to call our campaign office 281.343.1333 and let us know they can do it - or e-mail Leonard Cash (in the cc field above) so that we can get some head count. Let's give Lampson a parting shot that wrecks his press conference. "
If someone in attendance at the press conference drafted a letter to the local police department that quoted this statute, quoted the email, described the behavior of the protestors, and cc'ed it to the county attorney's office and the paper, it might bring Lampson and his supporters some justice, and further highlight the criminality and hypocrisy of this man's staff.
There are of course a multitude of free speech principles at issue here, which ought to be discussed.
