Logs released to Judicial Watch and Bloomberg News indicate that Jack Abramoff visited the White House at least twice.
From Bloomberg (sorry no link yet):
May 10 (Bloomberg) -- Lobbyist Jack Abramoff, now at the center of a federal corruption scandal, visited the White House at least twice, in 2001 and 2004, according to logs released by the U.S. Secret Service.
The Secret Service agreed last week to release the records after being sued by the Washington watchdog group Judicial Watch, which sought them under the Freedom of Information Act. The Secret Service faxed the logs today to Bloomberg News, which had also sought the records.
More in extended:
Until now, little has been known about how often Abramoff went to the White House. White House spokesman Scott McClellan said in January that Abramoff attended Hanukkah receptions in 2001 and 2002 and ``a few staff-level meetings.'' He refused to say who met with Abramoff. The Hanukkah receptions were not included in the Secret Service logs released today.
The two meetings listed in the Secret Service records were each less than an hour and occurred on March 6, 2001, and Jan. 20, 2004.
So this is what Scott McClellan meant when he said that he "wouldn't view it as a complete historical record."
