It's been a rough year...or has it?
Laura Bush is popular! Her approval rating is in the sixties. I wish I could be so popular! If I get a labotomy would my approval rating be in the sixties, too?
Today on ABC's
Meet the Press Laura explained her husband's recent lagging popularity.
We've had a very, very difficult year, starting with the hurricane last September, but already because of the terrorist attack in 2001 and then the war on terror since then," she said. "He's the one that has to make the hard decisions. And, of course, they don't please everyone."
Mrs. Bush makes an interesting point. What with the terrorist attack in 2001, it has been a rough year. Or has it been? I can think of some arguments both ways.
For me personally, it has been a good year, starting when I lost my virginity. Or maybe when I learned to walk (it's been an eventful year for me).
But for the country, it has been a rough year, starting when we were attacked by the Japanese.
On the other hand, to a certain extent it has also been a good year for the country, starting when we overthrew the yolk of British oppression: we just refused to let that viscous, yellow fluid keep us down.
So I don't know, overall, whether it has been a good year, or not.
How has the year been for you?
