Sitting here fighting a cold and watching Tweety yammer about the immigration issue, and a local commercial comes up for the Jack Van Impe Show. I keep a supply of beanie babies by my place on the couch ready for throwing at the TV, and I was halfway through my pitch (slider, breaking to the right) when he and Mrs. VI started going off about data collection and Big Brother.
Whaaaa??
A bit more on the flip.
It was just a commercial for the show, so there wasn't much, but it's obvious that Van Impe, a radical fundamentalist (televangelist for those not familiar with him) if there ever was one, is livid about the NSA data mining and collection program.
Now I have to watch the program, Bog help my benighted soul. At least it's better than watching Wolf Blitzer bend over and spread 'em for whatever Republican apologist he's having on today.
This diary is a heads-up for any Kossacks who want to join me by plunging into the frigid waters of Christian fundamentalism for a short period to see what Van Impe says, and to consider what it might mean for such a rock-ribbed American Taliban member to get all hot and bothered about data mining and privacy. Don't know when or even if it's broadcast on your TV provider, but you might be interested in checking.
If I survive the experience, I'll have some comments after the show.
Update: I suck. Jack and Rexella aren't coming on here until 11:30 tonight, not this morning. Doubt I'll be able to stay up to watch. Any volunteers with better scheduling to take my place?
