Doty for Southern Oregon in no longer running against an undefined foe.
Two Press Releases today - first from the incumbent:
MEDFORD - State Representative Rob Patridge, House Majority Whip, (R - District 6) today announced that he would not seek re-election to run for a fourth term in the Oregon House of Representatives.
Patridge said, "It has been an honor to serve the citizens of Oregon. I have enjoyed the challenges and have appreciated the education I have received while serving in the Legislature. I have agonized over the decision of whether or not to seek a fourth term. For personal, professional and financial reasons, I have decided not to seek re-election.
Second from the recently appointed State Senator Esquivel:
MEDFORD Medford City Council President/State Senator Elect Sal Esquivel today announced that he will file to run for State Representative in House District Six.
About his announcement Esquivel said, I look forward to continuing to serve the citizens of Medford in the Oregon Legislature. I have been interested in serving in the House of Representative s for a long time. I am honored to have been asked by many community leaders to seek election to the House of Representatives in light of Representative Patridge's announcement. I believe that my experience as a life-long resident of Medford and my record of community service make me uniquely qualified to represent the interests of southern Oregon in Salem.
So the gauntlet is on the ground and I am picking it up.
