Hi everybody. Don't forget that this coming Saturday, McJoan and Armando will be in the Big Apple so we are having a meetup in their honor. Here are the details about where we're meeting:
Mo Pitkins
34 Avenue A
Telephone: 212-777-5660
The meetup time is 5:30 on the 2nd floor. The reservation is in my real-life name, Lois, so if you get there and are feeling lost, ask the staff where to send you to get to us. (I may actually be late cause my son has a baseball game so wonderful Kossak and longtime meetup attendee TheMaven has agreed to play early-arrival host.)
Email me (see profile) if you want me to put you on the list for future meetups. Note: I do not use the email list for any other purpose.

As always, EVERYBODY is welcome. Lurkers, pie-throwers, lovers, fighters, oldtimes, newbies, friends of DKos addicts, etc.
People always ask me when the meetups end. Well, it's always hard to say. They do tend to go on and on. Kossaks are not just good writers, they're also good speakers so bank on people being around until at least 8-ish.
And for those of you who missed the first diary I posted ont this event, there are a few other things happening in New York this month that are Kossak-related:
First, Markos and Jerome are coming back to town on Tuesday May 16 and will be at the Pioneer Bar from 5:30-7:30. Drinking Liberally seems to have the organization for that under control so if you missed those two the first time they were in New York, then get out and seem them at this event.
Second, Kossak AdvisorJim will be here doing his book tour on Tuesday, May 23 and I think it would be great if we could support that by either attending his reading or perhaps taking him out for a drink after. The signing at a Greenwich Village B&N starts at 7:00 and he thinks he'll be done by 9:00.
Third, Kossak NYBri is running for a NY state Senate seat!! He's actually having a fundraiser the night that we're meeting up with McJoan, but I thought that sometime in the next couple of months we could have some sort of meetup or something for this great Kossak. If you're interested in donating to or helping out with his campaign, you can visit his Web site: http://www.keeler2006.com/
And finally, the poll question. Not along ago, McJoan and were having a discussion about having a friendship with someone whose political views are wildly different from hers.
Throughout my life, I've been friends with all kinds of folks, some of them rather unsavory. Whether it's the divisionary times we live in or the fact that I've gotten old and cranky, there are some people I no longer am interested in being friends with, and that includes influential Republicans who are either shaping or making policy. At some point for me, the political becomes personal. In other words, what you do for a living, for me anyway, says a lot about who you are as a person.
It's easy for me to say of course. I live in New York and I'd have to work really really hard to find a high-power Republican. And then too, my definition of "friend" is fairly hardcore. I have lots and lots of acquaintences, but my real friends are the handful of people I would trust to call on in desperate times or should I ever be in need of bail.
So here finally is the question. I want you to consider conservative Senator, John Thune of South Dakota. Your mission, should you be willing to accept it, is to say what the highest level of association you'd be willing to have with him is--whether you'd be open to anything from a friendship to a working relationship or that you're more likely to hang out with the cockroaches living in your cabinets.
