Just as a quick follow up to those who read
my diary from last week about Jeb Bush trying to commandeer a local sheriff's race in Florida, here's some
good news.
The Florida Supreme Court has smacked Jeb down in his bid to appoint a replacement for a sheriff who is resigning to run for a state senate seat.
Even though the state election office issued an opinion in February that the election should take place, Jeb argued that it was his right to appoint the replacement for the remaining
two years of the term. Overriding his own appointed election officials, Jeb insisted that the state Supreme Court rule on the issue.
And the Court did not agree with Jeb, which is pretty much always a victory for the people.
Sure, it's not a big deal outside Alachua County, Florida, but we gotta take the victories when we can get 'em.
