My contribution to the party's Eternal Search For A Brand - "Justice."
It seems to me, the word "Justice" could sum up our party's platform quite nicely.
What do we stand for? Justice.
Economic justice.
Social justice.
Environmental justice.
Geopolitical justice.
Et cetera.
(continued...)
The word itself is the polar opposite of "Corruption," which we've had some success tarring the GOP with. It does a lot of heavy lifting in terms of the time we spend talking about the things we
won't do, i.e. appoint cronies to FEMA, etc., and allows us to talk about the things we
will do.
"We will rebuild New Orleans. It is just that Americans who work hard and play by the rules can depend upon us when disaster strikes."
"We will reform campaign finance, because it is unjust when corporations have a louder voice than ordinary Americans."
"We will fight a real war against terrorism - ferreting out the unjust (Paging the Pakistani ISI, ISI to a white courtesy phone,) and leaving the innocent - you know, like the entire country of Iraq? - the hell alone."
You get the idea.
Let me know what you think.
