Funny, when other people are putting their lives on the line, Lieberman counsels staying the course. Now, for the first time in his senatorial career the going is getting a little tough and the word is that he's thinking of cutting and running. Abandoning his party and running as an Independent. Why doesn't he follow his own example?

If he feels that he has done such a great job for the people of CT., why all the negativity? If he is as devoted to them as he says he is and to the rightness of his cause, why isn't he more optimistic? Why doesn't he have a clear and compelling vision of his mission and his impending success?
What a colossal mistake it would be for him to choose this moment in history to lose his will and, in the famous phrase, to seize defeat from the jaws of the coming victory?
Come on Joe, why not take a cue from your pal George and tell Lamont to: "Bring it on." You should be welcoming this challenge. Don't run from it, stay the course, and then be a man and stand by the verdict of the people. Or are you a coward?
