Hi. Yes, I'm not Carnacki. I'm jlove1982. I'm best known for that time I wrote that really long diary. Anyways, I am giving Carnacki a hand this evening in finding gems within the commentary world, as well as the Top 10 comments in terms of Mojo.
First, a request. I know Carnacki is looking for more people to do this. It's good fun, and it makes people think and smile and talk and all that good stuff. So, if you want to get involved, leave comments here or email away. I have not determined what day I am going to take, but once my schedule is set, it should be good to go.
Second, it's definitely been an interesting day, filled with Yogi Bear jokes (sorry about that). I've included at least one of those into the final discussion, though there's a wide variety of good stuff from users today, so I'll let all of them speak for themselves.
First, three gems I was provided by Carnacki:
Savage reminds us that Michael Savage (aka Michael Weiner) is destroying Savage's good name.
dannyinla reminds us that there is beauty in wanking, particularly if that wanking is a healthy Kos addiction
Malacandra channels the late, great Lloyd Bentsen circa 1988 (regardless of your thoughts on Armando, this one is funny)
Now, onto a few from me (some funny, some more poignant than that)
Baldwiny probably has one of the more eloquent letters to the individual who drove into ct's house. What happened was horrible, and the young man will pay for his horrible mistake, but at the same time, he is as human as the rest of us. Baldwiny reminds us of that quite well, with a response from the young man
fred sandford identifies which segment of the population Joementum is going after with the new bear ad.
PhillyMos gives Stephen Colbert an action notice on Joementum's hiring of bear actors
sterno gives us a good assessment of what could become Olbermangate and how the right twists the words of the left, no matter what is said
This is actually a thread within a thread, but zephron, inclusiveheart, and Abbeysbooks all hit on some fascinating points on the prison system how rehabilitation has been rejected in favor of punishment.
SmokeyMonkey gives us the money quote in the writing of today's House resolution where we will find the part about permanent bases in Iraq
Finally (and I feel bad, because I found so many more, it's ridiculous... I now have total respect for Carnacki for the work being done on this, and can't wait to do another)
quaoar gives a perfect response to Conrad Burns' "haircut" ad for the Tester campaign to use.
Now, for the top 10 comments based on mojo (thanks to buddydharma and jotter for this... all the ponies in the world wished upon both of you):
#1. John Campanelli "Your Daily Baby Kos" (86)
#2. PhillyGal "Your Pootie Pic Du Jour" (76)
#3. John Campanelli (our only repeat offender) "Cheers to Stephen Colbert" (74)
#4. bebacker "If Olbermann goes, msnbc is on our shit list" (72)
#5. Mark in KS. "Cheers! from a Rrrrready-for-Friday KS!" (69)
#6. kmiddle "Cheers to delurking" (67)
#7 (TIE!). vigilant meerkat "Cheers to the authentic Friday!" (62)
#7 (TIE!). bramish "C&J Household Hint" (62)
#9. Ed Tracey "Yer week-endin' edition: still 'mo C&J" (59)
#10. wozzle "Adigal, we're glad" (58)
That's it. That's our Top 10 on both ends. If you have your own picks, post them. If not, post funny things. In general, have fun, and thank Carnacki, because this is an incredible idea, but a good deal of work. And get involved and help, because while it's some work, we all have our ideas of great comments, so let's see 'em :)
Finally, I should preface that I don't have time to read every diary. If I missed the gems you all have seen, or if you have any others that were good, I apologize for missing them. So any post that one thinks is particularly good should be posted here. The more we find, the better. It's all about finding the good and the funny from the commentaries made today, and giving them love. So enjoy :)
I'll also have fun polls in my parts. The first is in reference to Law & Order!
