While we all do not agree with the Republican politics, I am sure that
most of can agree that they have been very effective with deceit and false
representations. Of course one of the reason that they have been so effective
has been the MSM giving them every edge that one could want in comparison
of GOP Versus Democrats. We have to assume that their advantage with the Media
will not change between now and the Nov elections.
Anyone who has been watching this administration for any length of time should
also realize that Rove and Bush can not afford to let the Democrats take either
or both the houses this Nov. We should be very cautious of something in the
wind and we should not put anything beneath the Republican machine. I have a
strange feeling that the surprise may be more obvious than some may think.
More below:
Put your hat on and try thinking like a Republican for a minute as much as that
may disgust you.
If you are secretly planning on making a cut in the troop strength in Iraq say
in late Sept or Oct, what better way to set it up without looking like it is
a flip flop on their position, than by setting it up with the phony resolution
that was put forth today. It gives them perfect cover.
Let me explain:
All along the Republicans have covered Bush's rear on the Iraq war with any
and every thing that he and Rove want. Yet with the sentiment for the war fading
fast it would tend to leave them in a bit of a bad position come Nov. That is
why I believe that the main thing behind the sham resolution today was to give
them cover for the Nov elections. The resolution alone would not do that with
those who have supported their war and gone sour on it since because of the lack
of progress and the loss of lives. That is why I believe that the other half of
this plan with the resolution is a behind the scenes and not leaked to
make a significant troop reduction within Iraq by late Sept or Oct.
That leaves the Republicans the ability to claim two things that can make a
difference for them.
1.. That they were right in waging the Iraq war and that they had been claiming
progress all along, which they will claim has been true and we have now reached
the point that we can safely withdraw a number of troops. They would most likely
also make the claim that if the Democrats had their way and we had set a time
table for withdrawal we would not have reached this point.
Of course those of us who have paid real attention to the politics in our
country over the past few years will see it for what it really is. A total Sham.
2.. They will then have more ammunition in their mind and in some of the public's
mind that the Democrats are and have been too soft in the WOT.
Of course again we will see how once again they have used false information
and deceit to further their goals. However if the ploy proves to be successful
for them we are up in for a much tougher battle for the seats we need.
Our party has to learn not only how to answer and respond to their total off
the wall shit, but also how to anticipate what they are likely to do.
For instance in the case of the war resolution today, I firmly believe that
our party would have been much wiser to not have participated in the sham that
went down. It would have been far better in my opinion to have walked out on
the thing from the start and given a press conference about the reason for not
participating. It would have gotten wide coverage and I also think that it would
have given us a better position for framing it in our own way instead of their's.
I would be interested to know if others have thought about this or think that
it is possibly something that they are setting up.
