This is of course serves as an update to the
50 State Page from the gang who is shooting very straight in House races. The 50 State page now has CD maps and blogs, recent polls and incumbent web pages. Go on! Go and have a look.
Yep 425 down and up to 6 to go.
Head down below the fold to find out about which piece of the Virginia pie has fallen into place and which of the 4 unfilled Louisiana races now has a candidate.
But first go and give some love (and some cash) to good old Barry Welsh. His race could be the house sleeper of 2006. Or not. But hopefully it will. Don't forget the Welsh campaign meet up in Indianapolis on June 24th either it should be a hoot.
Great news that 425 Races now have Democratic candidates and still only 4 where there is definitely not going to be a Democratic candidate in November.
That 425 includes 420 races where there is a confirmed Democratic candidate. Number 420 is VA 7 where the 7th Congressional District Dems have just nominated Jim Nachman BTW.
Also included in the 425 number are 4 unconfirmed candidates:
- AZ 6 - Glenn Fuller
When his website is up and running or he files with the Arizona SOS I will put him as confirmed. Either will happen in the next few days. The AZ Dems even have a more likely campaign web address cited. Can't wait until it is up and running.
- NY 3 - Dave Mejias - When a website is up and running or he files with the New York Elections Board or the NY Dem party nominates him I will put him as confirmed.
- OK 4 - Hal Spake - His website is up and running but the OK Dems don't list him and the comments posting section doesn't work (I tried twice). This one should be confirmed by the middle of next week as filing runs from Monday to Wednesday.
- LA 4 - Rev Artis Cash - Take a look at Link 1 or Link 2. Again a website or SOS filing and he becomes confirmed.
And of course we have 1 write in candidate in CA-42, Mark Hull-Richter. The primary is next Tuesday and he needs 2461! Write in votes to get on the ballot in November.
So 425 races filled.
We also have a mere 10 races without Democratic candidates.
4 where there won't be a Dem on the ballot:
AL 6 - Congressional District Map
Fl 12 - Congressional District Map
MS 3 - Congressional District Map
TX 11 - Congressional District Map
And 6 where there might be:
LA 5 - Congressional District Map. There is currently no rumored candidate.
LA 6 - Congressional District Map. There is currently no rumored candidate.
LA 7 - Congressional District Map. There has been the odd blog mention of 1996 nominee Hunter Lundy stepping up. A best a huge longshot as he has said nothing to confirm that he is even thinking about running.
OK 1 - Congressional District Map. There is currently no rumored candidate. Filing closes next Wednesday so we will know soon enough.
VA 4 - Congressional District Map. There is currently no rumored candidate and it looks like the 4th VA Dems have given up. VA Dems have until June 13th to find a candidate.
VA 6 - Congressional District Map. There is currently no rumored candidate and the 6th CD district convention was held on Saturday without a candidate being endorsed. VA Dems have until June 13th to find a candidate.
The dominoes keep falling and the number of districts contested by Democratic candidates keeps increasing.
