I have completed my trailer, finished editing the live action version of the film, I say live action because the film is actually an animated documentary, and so it's going to take a little while before the actual film is completed since it is being animated. For a recap for those who haven't heard about this yet, I have been making a documentary for the last three years following the opposition to Bush from within Bush country, both inside and outside the system, and using that as a thread to the movie as a whole. The first act (first twenty minutes) follows the rise and fall of the Dean campaign, especially as it pertains to Texas. The second act (the next 50 minutes) chronicles the protests at the Republican National Convention. The third act (the last 20 minutes) wraps it up with Demfest 2005, followed by the very beginning of Cindy Sheehan's stand down in Crawford.
More on the flip....
At some point next week, I'll post a link to the minute long completed trailer, probably just put it on some free thing for right now, as my website is far from completion. I also plan on taking out ad space on the KOS front page, along with some other blogs, for an extended period of time when it is finally finished at some point this summer, as I plan to self distribute, advertising only on Liberal blogs and perhaps some Air America ads as well. Am looking forward to getting this thing out there, it's been a "long hard slog", but I was able to show the trailer to around 250 folks last weekend, and got a very positive response, great to finally have some personal reward. Am getting very excited about the soundtrack, as it is being done by a former bandmate of mine who was in The Civiltones, The Sun Sawed In Half, The Groupers, among many other bands. He's had many songs licenced for background use, and I'm getting him for a, pardon the pun, "song". Could not be more thrilled. In keeping with the theme and animation style of the movie, he is going to be making the soundtrack sort of resemble a demented Americana, using twisted banjos, broken saxophones, any intrument or arrangement that could not be mistaken as anything but a weird take on Americana. On that note, I need to get cracking and get him his SMPTE copy so he can do more (he did the trailer soundtrack bed sight unseen - and it was perfect). Anyway, I promise to make more frequent diaries on the topic, especially as it starts to get closer to release date time. If you get a second, help me out with some market research on the poll, as you are the market I have made this movie for, that and my own personal drive to make this movie. Have a great weekend!!!
