Evening everyone! I'm J-Love, and I will be your Wednesday captain on the S.S. Commentary for Wednesdays hence. This is also the one-week anniversary, but I don't have the energy to address that, so watch
the one given to us by Cheerleader, So and So, Whatserface, and The Ugly One.
Now, onto the comments. There are a bunch tonight, broken up into two sections: Section #1 is just slogans/responses from Darksyde's diary from this morning. Dang you Darksyde, because there were so many good things in there, I had to break the thing up into two parts
MadRuth, plf515, Tamifah, and melvin give us the slogans themselves, with Timroff providing illustration. Meanwhile, jdbrooklyn reminds us of the linguistic aspects, PsiFighter37 takes this further to discuss how the focus on slogans should be focused on changing the language itself (something I know he blogged about tonight). Also, 8051FSW reminds us to remember to know the definitions for the slogans we make, Numerian calls for balance of the positive and negative, and Aeolus looks for some feedback as to how to break down a Wal-Mart argument into a slogan. Oh, and vets74 writes about a situation with the Humvees that could, for all intensive purposes, be a diary in itself. Overall, there's some incredible work across the diary, so I got a lot from it.
That being said, here's part two... the non-DarkSyde comments:
jdmart makes some arguments on the effects of the Bush "torture doctrine".
overturned turtle should read my diary on civic association, only because this comment speaks to the the phenomena of civic association that Mr. turtle plays around with on the effects of trolls and arguments (though I focus more on trolls) in this world of dKos... (that's the only time I will pimp myself this evening, and for a month-old diary, at that :0
tepster responds to Marion Brady's incredibly fascinating diary on teaching. It's a good read (both comments and diary)
Dump Terry MacAuliffe reminds us who the worst team in professional sports is (and surprisingly, it's not the Royals, only because they've actually won a title since JFK was President.
Sharon Jumper hits on the major issues in Afghanistan and the result of its history.
HoundDog adds some fascinating perspective onto an already very good LGBT diary by RichardR.
bherner just makes me smile.
David Sirota's diary added some good old fashion fun, courtesy of NewDirection's call for tests to weed out crappy candidates for POTUS, Mosquito Pilot's call for only individual donations, and el cid's snarkasm. I present these more for discussion, because while I may not have the greatest grasp of campaign finance, etc, I know when fascinating ideas are presented, and the first two are very interesting and deserve discussion. el cid's is plain funny.
justCal goes right up one of my many alleys in discussing Paine. This also comes from a great diary, this time by litho. If any diary deserves SusanG's saving, it is this one, because it's a great read.
Finally, josephk addresses the "Left Behind" video game, and the inclusion of spyware, and why gamers are not going to like that one bit.
OK, that's it. Again, there are thousands of great comments here on Kos. I probably missed oodles and oodles of gems. So, you, the ever-vigilant types that you are, help me. Help me help you. Post your faves from the day. If you don't like my pics, let me know. I picked interesting, funny, thought-provoking, and overall fascinating stuff I found. That's it for tonight. Just keep posting, and keep reaching for the stars
(P.S.- tonight's fun poll is just weird. I get that. But enjoy :) )
