I run a College Democrats chapter in NH. I am looking to host a series of open to the public speakers this fall in preparation for the '06 elections, with a goal of educating voters and exciting them about the elections. On problem... I need speakers.
I am planning to host one speaker or event every week or so, and that translates into about eight speakers before November. My ideas so far are:
New Hampshire Freedom to Marry, to talk about the politics of marriage. Mo Baxley has proven to give a very effective presentation, as noted in my earlier diary.
The AFL-CIO, to talk about the minimum wage, and other labor and workers rights issues.
The Sierra Club, or NH-PIRG to talk about the environment, and global warming.
The War In Iraq: I have a Poli-Sci professor who happens to also work for the Department Of Defense (don't worry, she's liberal), and has offered to talk about almost anything...
These are ideas, of course, but this is the type of thing I'm interested in. Can you think of any other groups, or speakers in the NH, New England area who would be willing to speak? We have a very limited budget, so they would have to be willing to speak for very little, or free. Please comment on this diary, and offer suggestions, and contact info for the speakers.
Please, help me help everybody.
