So, the flag-pin festooned 101st Keyboardist Division is shocked, shocked, that their cult of Dear Leader personality isn't really the Uber-King. This most conservative Supreme Court in a century is just too wedded to quaint notions of the Constitution for the wingnuts, heh?
Apparently everything DIDN'T change after 9-11.
We still don't have a King named George.
We don't have a State Church.
The Constitution means something, still.
Hey, knuckle-draggers!
This isn't about protecting ACCUSED criminals, but protecting US, here at HOME from abuses and to keep our SOLDIERS FROM BEING TORTURED.
Imagine if the Iraqi insurgence adhered to the Geneva Conventions and those two soldiers last week were still alive, not boobied-trapped, and in one piece to come home and get married. But it only gets worse over there doing things "your way" doesn't it? Now why is that... what was it those ChickenHawk Boyz in charge called the opening to the Iraqi invasion? You know, the one you were all so proud to say like your armchair was actually there in the White House basement making those Big-Boy Decisions ...
Oh, yeah, they called it "DECAPITATION STRIKES"
Well, guess what, THEY BROUGHT IT ON.
Some call it Blowback, I call it karma.
Heckuva job, Brownie-Shirts.
John Paul Stevens, "Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death" is simply too much for you frightened lil' so-called Republicans.
Sheesh, what a bunch of skeered sheeple huddled together jumping at every shadow the guard dogs yap-up.
CONSIDER: This country faced nuclear megadeath for decades with steely reserve and deep pockets, but as the Cold Warriors become Old Warriors your soft spreading behinds are somehow now too tender to handle a few cabals of cave dwelling fighters w/o soiling yourselves - a good thing so many of you are no-bid Defense Contractors able to stuff money in your holes to plug up the effluviant. In the face of these paltry few boogeymen all the courage drains from your belly and your knees shake at the thought Attorney General Torquemada might shove the color-danger spectrum up your rectum another notch to test-drive your moodswings.
Lookout: darkie devils abound!
Oh, please take away our rights to privacy!
Oh, please track everything we buy and who we call!
Oh, please send secret agents to spy on our church meetings!
Oh, brother: here's the famous Republican staunch defense of Liberty ready to sell us all out at the drop of a turban, heh? Truth revealed.
I'm spending this 4th of July weekend as I do every year: re-reading the U.S. Constitution carefully. It's a practice I've taken up over the last few years and since it's such a long weekend I'm going to put the Bill of Rights in the mix too.
You bi-polar American Taliban wanna-bees ought to pay closer attention to the notions you fling about so casually. The Framers of this country had no truck with the bigotry and fear-mongering you howl moonward. Read the Treaty of Tripoli : you'll see president Adams and Congress - Founding Fathers every one of them - unanimously signed that agreement... a declaration that explicitly states America is not Christian and shall not hold any one religion above others.
You guys are a train wreck. I'm bringing the popcorn.

Post Note
On the Fight -or- Flight spectrum it's not hard to see which direction I head when there is trouble. I went to the rankest most-racist, xenophobic, reactionary Reich-wing site I could think of and proceeded to comment on the absurd string of vitriol these Christopathic tough-talkers were spewing now that Bush isn't the God-King after all.
The site I won't mention is alluded to in the title of this piece, but I refuse to mention them by search-engine-ready name, nor will I {h}URL their location upon you. It's not hard to guess their real moniker if you consider the Vietnam-era inspired tactic of fragging officers by tossing... "Lil' Verde Pigskins" into an officers' latrine.
Such great patriots they are to claim this with pride, heh?
Yeah, we'll be trusting your judgement soon... about when the Rapture actually, really, truly and amazingly does lift ya'lls pseudo-pious souls heavenward. We'll break out the Ouji board so you can let us know what the pool temperature is up there in fantasyland.
A funny thing happpened on the way to the forum...
they took away the podium and disallowed comments except for their select micro-brained secret handshake society. Oh, and wouldn't register new people! I look forward to them continuing to distance themselves from the rest of humanity.
So, me own wee little site format will soon enough expand beyond my solo voice, but I have never claimed to be a community - as they do. On the off-chance defenders of this Bushevik regime can rub two brain cells together and wish to address me they are free to do so, email:
contact [at] formandfunction [dot] com
And I'll even keep your missive private if you ask, otherwise I'll delight in publishing it as Monkey Mail.
OK, after all this is said and done, the only thing left are War Crimes trials for our Federal Officials. The truth is the executive argument is the last thin reed the Busheviks have been standing upon to keep the rising blood from staining their bunny slippers. US law is simple and explicit about this:
War Crimes - § 2441
(a) Offense.-- Whoever, whether inside or outside the United States, commits a war crime, in any of the circumstances described in subsection (b), shall be fined under this title or imprisoned for life or any term of years, or both, and if death results to the victim, shall also be subject to the penalty of death.
(b) Circumstances.-- The circumstances referred to in subsection (a) are that the person committing such war crime or the victim of such war crime is a member of the Armed Forces of the United States or a national of the United States (as defined in section 101 of the Immigration and Nationality Act).
(c) Definition.-- As used in this section the term "war crime" means any conduct--
(1) defined as a grave breach in any of the international conventions signed at Geneva 12 August 1949, or any protocol to such convention to which the United States is a party;
(2) prohibited by Article 23, 25, 27, or 28 of the Annex to the Hague Convention IV, Respecting the Laws and Customs of War on Land, signed 18 October 1907;
(3) which constitutes a violation of common Article 3 of the international conventions signed at Geneva, 12 August 1949, or any protocol to such convention to which the United States is a party and which deals with non-international armed conflict; or
(4) of a person who, in relation to an armed conflict and contrary to the provisions of the Protocol on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Mines, Booby-Traps and Other Devices as amended at Geneva on 3 May 1996 (Protocol II as amended on 3 May 1996), when the United States is a party to such Protocol, willfully kills or causes serious injury to civilians.
Quess what, invading a country is a global War Crime - just like Hitler invaded Poland. Sad irony the Poles still play a cameo role in Iraq as the only prop left of Bush's Potemkin "coalition of the willing" Village. Treating prisoners as we have is not only shameful, but counterproductive {can you spell Snipe Hunt?} and illegal under Geneva Conventions... a set of codes made into Federal Law in 1955. So, this is not just a Crime Against Humanity, but against U.S. law. If we don't bring them to heel, then the world just may do so for us... which would you rather see?
I prefer to clean house ourselves, but maybe a public teachable moment needs to be witnessed by the entire world holding accountable those who have committed these crimes and undo the damage these Republican Guard dead-enders dug into DC has wrought.
