Yesterday's election sent some strong signals. But I'm not getting the same signals others on this board appear to be. I see Busby's loss in CA-50 as a sign that Democrats still have some work to do to convince Republican voters that voting the party line isn't their only option. That test still remains for Tester.
Some say the signals point to wingnuts falling out of favor with voters, I think that happened 2 years ago with Schiavo. What we're seeing is a hardening of the core of the Republican party. They have the money, they have the GOTV dominance, and they have the conch right now (for there is no democrat leaning national news outlet right now).
Crashing the Gates on the entrenched DC Dems is good, and I'm glad it's happening. But it's just one rung on the ladder. How do we convince the Core Republicans that Democrats and Democratic Values can run this nation better than the mess of the last 6 years.
