...don't they know how to play well with others?
The CA-50 Narrow victory by the G.O.P. reported by the New York Times is a laugh:
Republicans demonstrated yet again their ability to raise more money than Democrats and to deploy the get-out-the-vote and absentee-vote operation developed by the Republican National Committee.
The committee's chairman, Ken Mehlman, said Wednesday that Republicans had 160 people in this district helping to get out the vote.
"They made 164,000 phone calls," Mr. Mehlman said.
Democrats said the Democratic National Committee had no similar effort on the ground here.
Aren't we the "get-out-the-vote" folks?
I was almost too depressed to write this, but my anger has given me renewed energy. As a political pragmatist, I don't spend a lot of time worrying about whether I think the democratic establishment is idealogically perfect. I assume they, like all organizations, are limited in nature. I do consider it my job as a democrat to be a foot soldier and follow orders so we can win back some House seats and maybe have a chance at affecting change. I am not an idealogue and therefore often get behind the democratic establishment, regardless of my personal opinions about their strategies, and fundraise, blog, etc... as I'm told. That being said, I am really disgusted by the democrats showing in the CA-50 race.
I want to know where the DNC was? Why aren't our leaders working together? Why do the republicans get it and we don't? What can we do, other than blog amongst ourselves, to get them to work together?
If you want to Dean/Rahm bash please save it for a different diary. I want a dialogue about real, practical ideas on how to get them to be more effective.
