UPDATE - Ok I don't frequent Daily Kos enough to get it. And my diary wasn't calling Bob out, it was HELLO BOB, you know like when you see a good looking girl, I hear Bob has nice legs. See even I can laugh at myself but watching my country go to hell just pisses me off.
You need to wake up. Bush and Cheney have no intention of winning this war.
Republicans only want to wave the flag but really could care less if our soldiers have the correct armor or VA benefits or the secretary of defense can actually sign the letter informing parents their son or daughter has died or the deputy secretary of defense can really know how many soldiers died or they can even send our honorable soldiers home in a respectful manner. All that matters to Republicans is that they put the meaningless magnet on their car and keep permanently waving the flag.
(Read on...)
I can go along with the theory of democratizing the Middle East and even thinking that maybe Iraq is a first step in this struggle but what absolutely turns me away from this Bush and Cheney and Republicans in general is the idea of shared sacrifice.
If these Republicans really believe that Iraq is the first line in the fight against terrorism than the next logical extension would be that they would be willing to do anything to win this fight, but they are not and no one is asked for anything to fight this war except the soldiers.
Our troops are the only ones that have been asked to do anything after 9/11. And the Republican congress rolled through another set of tax cuts the other day. Our soldiers are being sent home as freight and these people are worried about their damn tax cut. I sometimes feel this war is a just mirage to distract us while Republicans are wheeling money out the back.
Republicans have no idea what shared sacrifice means. You need to listen to the generals
Army Maj. Gen. John Batiste lays out one of my major issues with the Bush Adminstration.
"Number three. When my family and I returned from Germany after three years with the Big Red One, we were struck by the fact that there's a lack of sacrifice and commitment on the part of the American people. The exception of those families with soldiers committed into this fight. And certainly, too many of these families truly understand the meaning of sacrifice.
Most Americans only confront this issue by deciding what color of magnet on the back end of their SUV. I think that our executive and legislative branches of government have a responsibility to mobilize this country for war. They frankly have not done so.
We're mortgaging our future, our children, $8 to $9 billion a month. And it seems to me it's time to start some form of rationing. The American people have done this before."
Bush asks nothing of the American people, shared sacrifice means nothing to Republicans, our soldiers are asked to go off to war while Republicans worry about their damn tax cut. Heaven forbid the 101st Fighting Keyboardists forgo their damn tax cut so our soldiers don't get sent home as freight
And how does Bin Laden say he is going to harm America?
Bin Laden: Goal is to bankrupt U.S.
Republicans are hurting this war effort no matter how you slice it and it is time you woke up to that fact.
I have no doubt there are patriotic Republicans but they are sitting idly by while their party and country is being taken over by those that want to wave the flag and hope we don't notice what they are really doing to our troops.
It is time the true patriotic Republicans and Democrats must rise up and take back their country from money interests that control this country and Dailykos is part of that effort whether you like it or not.
