We were introduced to the Republican's '02 Campaign theme when they played off the 9-11 attacks and their Poster Boy was Osama Bin Laden.
They campaigned in the '04 Election on the War in Iraq, as if it were a good thing, with a couple dashes of Osama Bin Forgotten.
It has become clear that Americans have looked behind the curtain and realized this Administration has lied to them from George Bush's first campaign stump speech declaring his "I'm a compassionate Conservative". Lesson 1.
The problem is, the Republicans see enough evidence that their "Fear and Scare" tactics still work. Or does it? How's the Avian Flu scare going? North Korea hasn't given a rise to Bush's numbers and the Republicans must really be pissed off that the Iran issue they're trying to shove down our throats isn't giving them a bump. So now they are left with their ever galvanizing effect, War.
The Republicans believe they can win with their "Fear and Scare" tactics, which is one of the reasons we got Iraq and didn't stay in Afghanistan. Of course, it has to benefit them too, that's why we didn't stay on the hunt for Osama Bin Laden-you know, Bush's partner in crime who he no longer is looking to capture. They want to give their special interests their pay back with contracts for weapons, vehicles, planes and communications/media, but they need something a bit more inspiring for themselves, too. They believed they needed a War to carry them in to re-election and were looking for anything that would give them that opportunity.
Now they are actually espousing World War III as if it were a good thing. "I think we are in the beginning of World War III", "that's how you'll win the '06 Election". I will concede, if Americans actually vote for the Republicans in this upcoming election, they almost likely will get their 3rd War and that may be the last election we'll ever have to worry about.
So will you all rise up? Will you say we didn't become the great country we were by spreading hate and intolerance, lack of diplomacy and threats. We were the country of hope and opportunity, not destroy and rule. Will you take the first steps to righting a wrong and tell our Reprsentatives we have had enough? Start ending these wars by ending our occupation of Iraq. Demand we bring our troops home and start diplomatically engaging the world we live in.
