Hi, my name is Patrick Driscoll. I have a posted a few times about my State Representative race, but I would like the chance to share a bit more about myself and my race. I am running in one of the most conservative districts in the state. The current representative who is retiring may be a Democrat but he suffers from the same disease many do, where the party label means no more than an opportunity to be elected. For instance, he tried to impeach our Supreme Judicial Court for their gay marriage decision. He voted against closing coporate tax loopholes, and he is anti-choice. With his retirement, an opportunity has arisen. A chance to elect a Progressive Democrat to fill his seat.
Its an open seat so there are 5 Democrats and 2 Republicans running for the seat. I remain the only candidate to support a woman's right to choose, the only candidate to suport gay marriage, and the only candidate to oppose a tax cut within the state which would cripple us financially.
Now to tell you a bit about myself. I recently graduated from Boston College Law School, and I have returned to the community in which my family has lived for four generations to ensure that it returns to what it once was, a great place to raise a family. We have seen the effects of conservative rule, and no Democrat in a state like Massachusetts should be elected who rejects almost everything the party stands for, but in order to make sure that does not happen, I need your help. I have been endorsed by NOW, Neighbor to Neighbor, National Association of Social Workers, Mass Equality (supports marriage equality) and MassAlliance (a coalition of progressive organizations). But most importantly people of all ideologies in the district are resonating with my effort to bring the people back to politics, even in Massachusetts. I invite all of you to please check out my website, www.electdriscoll.org. And if any of you can, any contribution no matter how small, would be very helpful as this is a very competitive primary.
Any questions I will be here to answer for a while.
All the best and on to a blue America, one district at a time,
Patrick Driscoll
