Just watched Charlie Rose interview Rupert Murdoch. Program available free (sponsored by HP) via Google.

At minute 21 of the program, Murdoch admits that the NYPost continues to incur losses. I recall watching another Murdoch interview, in which he also admits that the NYPost continues to incur operating losses.
He always says the same. That profitability is right around the corner.
Why do I diary this?
Because I am tiring of RightWing Nuts citing Air America as the only news institution that operates at a loss, whose operating losses are financed by "like-minded" Americans.
Air America, like the NYPost, have a broader mission: To attempt to set the national agenda. Air America does it for the Center-Left, while the NYPost provides talking points for the RightWing. Therefore, just as Murdoch continues to finance operating losses at the NYPost, Democratic venture capitalists (you can't imagine how strong the Democratic Party is in the venture capital community) continue to finance (I would argue, "invest in") centrist causes, like Air America.
So, please, next time any RightWing nut refers to Air America, let's retort that the The New York Post, much older than Air America, has yet to turn a profit.
