Recently, Stephen Colbert interviewed executive director of the Catholic League's William Donahue. Donahue spoke mainly of the need for morality in the country and the evils of "secular leftists".
Well, in an attempt to make some point on immigration (or just being a blowhard), he states that he is a native american and the Native Americans are not even from "here" since they came from asia. Donahue says, "I'm a native American. I was born in New York City, and those people came from Asia so they're not really native Americans anyhow."
As a native and a historian, I am not a fan of the Bering Straight theory. Our stories and our legends tell us that we emerged on this side of the world, the Americas are our home. So Donahue's statement is typical of anti-people of color and pissed me off a bit. Until I realized what his statement truly means.
The theory of migration from Siberia through the ice bridge to the Americas is part of the scientific theory of evolution and migration from Africa. Emerging from Africa, scientists say, we migrated an populated the world.
So you, see, Donahue is an evolutionist. Hey, Hey! Welcome to the reality and fact based community.
