Okay, I know what you're saying as you read this. Good God! another diary about that she-man with bony monkey arms, Ann Coulter, why can't it just end. But, here me out for just a second while I begin to waste more valuable space with another entry about America's worst nightmare come true.
In a previous diary, I'd mention that Right-Wing columnist and part-time entertainer, Ann Coulter, was the face of the GOP
Now, how can that possibly be so true.
Well in her latest moan fest called "Godless" Ms. Coulter takes the 9/11 widows to the woodshed. Claiming with no evidence that the women enjoyed profiting from their husbands' deaths.
Naively, I thought, with the House and Senate up for grabs this year, that the GOP would try to distance themselves from this woman.
No, I was wrong.
A few such as Mary Matalin, Bill O'Reilly, and Jack Burkman sided with Coulter, with just proves the theory that the GOP sees the President as a moral authority equal to God and should be disqualfied from any form criticism.
Now, if Al Gore was President on the day of the 9/11 attacks, then Ann Coulter and every other Conservative pundit would've praised the 9/11 widows as great Americans for putting his feet to the fire as it pertains to forcing a commission into finding out why the intelligence community failed so miserably.
But not Bush, no siree!
President Bush is the messiah times 30 and should be treated with respect. In their world it was a travesty to see their hero questioned before members of the 9/11 commission.
The nerve of some Americans who want questions on why 3,000 people were killed on 9/11.
But, today my beef isn't just with Ann Coulter and her latest rants about Bill Clinton and Al Gore's supposed latent homosexual leanings.
Nope, it's with the mainstream media.
If history has taught us anything, the mainstream media has brought down some of the most powerful and despicable human beings on this planet.
In the 50's it was Joe McCarthy and his never ending quest to find Communists lurking underneath the beds of millions of Americans.
In the 60's it was LBJ and his debacle in Vietnam.
And, in the 70's it was Nixon and his thirst for absolute power.
The power of the media, the voice of America brought these three men down. And, to some extent when the media brought Nixon down it was their last hoorah.
Now, it appears that the mainstream media, our voice when voiceless is willing and happy to side itself with a GOP agenda that revolves around fear-mongering, war, hate and misinformation.
What could be driving the media to side with the likes of Ann Coulter, Glenn Beck, and others?
Well, execs will tell you that Ann Coulter and Glenn Beck bring a no-holds barred approach to current events. No Political correctness involved. To use English, they want to appeal to the angry white demo who feel slighted by the alleged liberal boogeyman who makes fun of religion, talks bad about the President and puts Gay people on TV to marry.
The angry white American demo is potent and has driven a faux news network like Fox news to the tops in ratings.
Ann Coulter is the non-thinking American's favorite Conservative pundit. She says things with no regard for ethics or truth and her followers, so to speak, love her, because they feel what the Political process needs is someone to call Al Gore a "fag".
Yes, Ann Coulter pulls no punches, but 100% of what she says is crap.
The media, however, either love her or don't want to piss off that angry white American demo by finally calling her out on the lies that she's spewed from that mouth.
She's entertainment value for shows like "Hardball" which could now described as "No balls" for failure to put an end to her act.
Ann Coulter's appearances on the talk shows should be study on how the media operates at this current time.
It's not about holding our leaders accountable, but to gain ratings.
Who cares about questioning Bush's motvies in the middle east, what does Ann have to say today?
Who cares?
Okay, you want to put her on your show, fine. But, what about calling her out on her bullshit, by peppering her with tough questions instead of being scared of pissing off the already angry white American who "hearts" America without fault?
The media, Ann Coulter, and the GOP talking points memo are all in this together.
We can't sit idly back and say, just stop talking about her and she'll go away.
No, that's total indifference.
The media likes to hate speech and misninformation, more than ever. Ann Coulter is the product of that and it's up to us to tear down that wall.
Yes, Ms. Coulter is a bullshit artist, but we can't let the mainstream media (our voice) get away with parading her lies on a continous basis.
