I'm just speculating here, but I really am curious. Near the start of this week, when Dean was making his long-awaited announcement of jumping into the DNC race, Joe Trippi (an embittered ex-campaign manager) endorses Simon Rosenberg. He claims the timing was just an accident and that he has nothing against Dean, but this certainly did come close to derailing the positive momentum from Dean's announcement.
And then a few days later Zephyr Teachout (a former highly-placed member of the Dean campaign) smears Kos, Dean and Jerome Armstrong in a fake payola scandal which shoves Dean and his attempt to rebuild this party right into an oncoming train. Of course Teachout endorsed Dean as DNC chair, but that's a funny way to show your support for someone, isn't it? By telling the far-right that they bought off bloggers?
I really have to wonder if Trippi and Teachout planned this together to make sure that Dean was robbed of the nomination. Perhaps in return they will get some lucrative work as talking heads or on some upcoming Congressional campaigns.
I know I'm probably being paranoid, but the timing here is just strange.
