So according to Gary Schroen, the senior CIA operative who led "Operation Jawbreaker" into Afghanistan to start our removal of the Taliban from Afghanistan (his book is called
"First In -- An Insider's Account of How the CIA Spearheaded the War on Terror in Afghanistan") it was Pakistan who supported the Taliban in the civil war that followed the Soviet Union's retreat from that country. And it was Pakistan who made sure that the Taliban stayed in power, and it was Pakistan who gave the Taliban everything they needed to cement their hold on Afghanistan.
So how does the Bush administration deal with Pakistan? Well for one, they let Osama bin Laden and the other high-level Taliban leaders escape to Pakistan. Second, they look away as Pakistan trades nuclear bombs around the globe, and now they are about to sell 5 Billion dollars worth of fighter jets to Pakistan.
Here's the story. It's short.
This won't be much of a diary, because it's almost midnight on the eve before July 4th. I'm sure it will die quickly. But I had to get it out there before I go to bed.
The failure of the Bush administration to deal with Pakistan after 9/11 is right up there with the desire to invade Iraq as the two biggest indications that they were not serious WHATSOEVER about actually waging a "war on terror". When they started talking about invading Iraq long before the job in Afghanistan was completed, I began smelling something which I soon realized was a rat. A nest of rats.
Schroen's book is a pretty good read. I diaried about it here, "George Bush lost the War on Terror in 2002 ". Schroen makes it quite clear that Bush began pulling resources away from Afghanistan to be used in Iraq in March of 2002, barely six months after 9/11! Absolutely treasonous.
Bush indeed lost the war on terror, by his own choosing, in March of 2002. And now he's selling billions of dollars worth of fighter jets to the country that put the Taliban in power.
Why is Bush still in office? Why are any of these Bush cronies still free men? Why are the American people SO NICE?
